What is FIM-1®?
FIM-1 is a clear carbon-based wood preservative, Didecyl dimethyl ammonium carbonate (DDA Carbonate) applied to wood through pressure treatment to protect it from fungal decay. Micronized iron oxide colour pigments can be added to the preservative to add colour and provide protection against UV degradation of the treated wood.
FIM-1 can be used in the pressure treatment of wood products for above-ground light-duty residential uses, such as:
-
Decking less than 2” (50 mm) in thickness and not more than 6” (150 mm) in width
-
Turned, profiled and appearance-grade products, including, but not limited to, profiled hand rails, railings, spindles, trim and fascia, lattice, trellises, gazebos and fencing.

FIM-1 is a registered trademark of Timber Specialties Co.
FIM-1 pressure treated wood products are produced by independently owned and operated wood preserving facilities.
